Information We Collect
SnapSize does not collect, transmit, or store your photos or personal data on any external server. Ever.
The information handled by SnapSize falls into two categories — what stays on your device, and what is handled by third-party SDKs (Apple, Google).
| Data Type | Stored Where | Sent Externally |
|---|---|---|
| Your photos & processed images | Device temp/documents folder | Never |
| App preferences (quality, format, theme) | UserDefaults on device | Never |
| Compression history & thumbnails | Device documents folder | Never |
| Daily usage counter | UserDefaults on device | Never |
| Purchase & subscription status | Apple StoreKit / device | Apple only |
| Ad identifiers (free users only) | Google AdMob SDK | Google only |
How We Use Information
The limited data processed by SnapSize is used exclusively to:
- Provide compression, resize, crop, and format conversion features
- Remember your default quality settings and format preferences
- Track your daily free-tier usage limit (3 compressions/day, stored locally, resets at midnight)
- Verify your Pro subscription status via Apple StoreKit 2
- Serve contextually relevant ads to free-tier users via Google AdMob
We do not use your data for profiling, sell it to third parties, or share it with any entity beyond what is described in sections 4 and 5.
Photo & Camera Access
All image processing uses Apple's CoreGraphics and ImageIO frameworks entirely on-device. No photo data is uploaded to any server.
SnapSize requests the following iOS permissions:
- Photo Library (Read) — to let you select photos via the system photo picker for processing.
- Photo Library (Add Only) — to save processed images back to your library. We request Add Only access; we cannot read or browse your existing photos.
Revoke permissions anytime at Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → SnapSize. Revoking disables save functionality but does not affect image processing.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC, Mountain View, CA). Pro subscribers never see ads.
Google AdMob may collect and use the following in accordance with its own privacy policy:
- Advertising Identifier (IDFA) — only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission
- IP address (for geo-targeting and fraud prevention)
- Device type, OS version, screen size
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
App Tracking Transparency: SnapSize does not request ATT permission. AdMob will serve limited, non-personalized ads without cross-app tracking. Manage ad preferences at Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Review Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data usage policy for full details.
In-App Purchases
SnapSize Pro is available through Apple's App Store via three purchase options:
- Weekly ($2.99/week) — auto-renewable subscription
- Yearly ($14.99/year) — auto-renewable subscription with 3-day free trial
- Lifetime ($29.99) — one-time non-consumable purchase
All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple. Durusoft does not receive, store, or process your payment card information. To manage or cancel subscriptions: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
Data Storage & Security
All app data is stored locally on your device within Apple's iOS sandbox:
- Preferences stored in
UserDefaults— sandboxed, not synced to iCloud - Processed images written to a temporary directory, cleaned up automatically
- History thumbnails stored in the app's Documents directory
- Widget data shared via App Group
group.com.durusoft.snapsize
iOS enforces strict app sandboxing. No other app can access SnapSize's data without your explicit permission.
Children's Privacy
SnapSize is rated 4+ on the App Store and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).
Since SnapSize requires no account creation and collects no personal data, there is minimal risk of children's data being processed. Google AdMob's child-directed content policies apply to ad serving.
Your Rights
Because SnapSize stores all data locally on your device, you retain full control:
- Delete history — Settings → Storage → Clear History within the app
- Delete all data — uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
- Revoke photo access — Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → SnapSize → None
- Limit ad tracking — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
