Prompta

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 October 2026 · Last updated: 9 October 2026 · Applies to the Prompta app for iOS and iPadOS (com.durusoft.teleprompter.script)

In short
  • Prompta has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your scripts, settings and recording list stay on your device; if iCloud Backup (or a backup to your computer) is on, they are included in your device's backup.
  • The camera and microphone are used only while the recording screen is open. Videos are saved to the Photos app on your device and are never uploaded by us.
  • Voice commands and word tracking are optional. When you use them, the microphone listens while the reading screen is open and your speech is processed by Apple's speech recognition — on your device when it supports your language, otherwise on Apple's servers.
  • We do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools. The free version shows a limited number of ads (Google AdMob); Premium has no ads. Prompta does not ask to track you and cannot access your advertising identifier.
  • If you buy Premium, Apple processes the payment through the App Store and RevenueCat verifies your subscription.

1. Who we are

Prompta ("the app", "we", "us") is developed by DuruSoft. For any privacy question or request, contact us at duru.sofft@gmail.com. If you write to us with Settings › Help & feedback, the email is pre-filled with your app version, iOS version and device model so that we can help faster; you can edit or remove this before sending.

2. Information stored on your device

The following data is created by you and stored on your device. We cannot see or access it.

DataWhy
Scripts, their titles and earlier versionsTo show, edit and restore your scripts.
Recording list (title, duration, date, link to the video)To show your recordings in the app.
Preferences (text size, colors, speed, recording and remote-control settings)To remember how you like to use the app.

iCloud and device backup

Prompta's data is part of your device's standard backup. If iCloud Backup is turned on (or you back up your iPhone or iPad to a computer), your scripts, settings and recording list (and the subscription information that RevenueCat stores in the app on your device) are included in that backup, which is stored by Apple in your iCloud account (or on your computer) and can be restored when you set up a new device. We have no access to this backup. The recording list is not carried over when a backup is restored; your videos stay in the Photos app. You can exclude Prompta from iCloud Backup, turn backup off, or delete a backup in Settings › [your name] › iCloud.

You can also save your scripts and settings yourself as a ZIP file with Settings › Data & privacy › Export my data, and restore them with Restore a backup. The file is saved only where you choose (for example in the Files app or iCloud Drive) and is not sent to us.

Notifications

If you turn on the recording reminder (Settings › Recording reminder), or start a free trial of Premium, the app schedules notifications on your device: a reminder to record on the days you choose, and a reminder before your free trial ends. They are created and shown by your device; no server of ours sends them. iOS asks for your permission when you turn on the reminder, and you can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in Settings › Notifications › Prompta.

3. Camera, microphone and Photos

Prompta asks for camera and microphone access so that you can record video while reading your script. They are used only while the recording screen is open: the camera shows your preview, and the microphone is switched on as soon as the screen opens so that voice commands can be heard and a recording can start without delay. Picture and sound are saved only into the video you record. We do not receive, upload or analyse your video or audio. iOS shows its green or orange indicator whenever the camera or microphone is in use, and a recording is paused when the app goes to the background or a call comes in.

When a recording finishes, the video is saved to the Photos app, in an album called "Prompta". For this, and to show, play and share your recordings in the app, Prompta asks for access to Photos; it only opens the videos it saved itself. If iCloud Photos is turned on, Apple syncs these videos to iCloud like the rest of your library. If you do not allow Photos access, the video is kept in the app's own folder instead, which you can open in the Files app (On My iPhone or On My iPad › Prompta); this folder is part of the app's data, so it is included in your device backup and deleted together with the app.

You can use the app without these permissions in the camera-free "text mode" (there the microphone is needed only for the "Voice" and "Word" modes and for voice commands), and you can withdraw them at any time in your device's Settings app under Prompta.

Voice scrolling, voice commands and word tracking (optional)

In the "Voice" mode, the script moves while you speak and stops when you pause. For this, the app only measures how loud the microphone input is: it does not recognise words, and no audio is sent anywhere.

You can turn on voice commands in Settings › Remote control to control the script with short spoken phrases such as "continue" or "stop". Premium users can also choose the "Word" (word tracking) mode, in which the script follows the words you read. While either is in use and the reading screen is open, the app passes the microphone audio to Apple's speech recognition (the Speech framework); iOS asks for a separate Speech Recognition permission the first time. If your device supports on-device recognition for your language, the audio is processed on your device; otherwise it is sent to Apple's servers, and Apple's handling of it is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy. Prompta only uses the recognised text to detect a command or to find your place in the script, and then discards it: we do not store, upload or analyse this audio or text ourselves. Listening stops as soon as you leave the reading screen or the app goes to the background (word tracking also stops while the script is paused), and you can turn voice commands off, choose another mode, or withdraw the Speech Recognition permission in your device's Settings app at any time.

4. Files and clipboard

When you choose to import a script or restore a backup, the app reads only the file you pick (TXT, Markdown, Word or a Prompta backup ZIP) or, if you tap "Paste from clipboard", the text currently in your clipboard (iOS may ask you to allow pasting). The content is saved on your device. The clipboard is never read unless you ask for it.

5. Keyboards, remotes and pedals

If you connect a Bluetooth keyboard, presentation remote or foot pedal, use the media buttons of your headphones, or use your iPhone's or iPad's volume buttons on the recording screen, the app reacts to the keys you press on the teleprompter screens. It does not record, store or send these key presses.

6. Purchases (Prompta Premium)

Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never see your card or payment details. To confirm that your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), a subscription management service. RevenueCat processes:

This data is used only to provide and restore your purchases and to prevent fraud. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and the Apple Privacy Policy. For help with a purchase, contact us from the app (Settings › Help & feedback) and include your App Store Order ID.

7. Optional ads (Google AdMob)

The free version shows ads in a few limited places, and never during reading, recording or sharing:

Premium users see no ads, and the ad SDK is not started for them.

Ads are provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited). To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:

Prompta does not ask for permission to track you (App Tracking Transparency), so neither the app nor Google can access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).

Your choice. Where required by law (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), we ask for your consent with Google's consent tool before any ad is requested, and ads can be personalized or non-personalized depending on your choice. You can change your decision at any time in the app under Settings › Data & privacy › Ad privacy options. The IDFV is the same for all of our apps on your device and is reset when you delete all of them.

Update check

When the app starts, it downloads a small public file (https://mehmetth.github.io/version.json) that lists the latest version number, so it can tell you when an update is available on the App Store. No personal data, identifier or content is sent with this request. As with any web request, the hosting service (GitHub) receives your IP address and basic technical information; see the GitHub Privacy Statement.

8. What we do not do

9. Data retention and deletion

Data on your device stays there until you delete it. You can delete all scripts, the recording list and your preferences at any time with Settings › Data & privacy › Delete my data in the app, or by deleting the app. Copies in your iCloud or computer backup remain until that backup is deleted. Videos in the Photos app are not deleted by the app; you can remove them with the Photos app. Videos kept in the app's own folder (if you did not allow Photos access) can be removed with the Files app and are deleted together with the app. RevenueCat keeps purchase records as described in its privacy policy; to request their deletion, contact us with your App Store Order ID.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or Türkiye's Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data, KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not keep your content on our servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly in the app. For purchase-related data, contact us at duru.sofft@gmail.com.

11. Children

Prompta is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Security

Your data is protected by your device's own security. Communication with the App Store and RevenueCat is encrypted (HTTPS). Please keep your device protected with a passcode.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when we add new features. We will change the "Effective date" above and, for significant changes, inform you in the app.
